5th grade Teamwork

Happy Wednesday!

Here is what we did today:

Math: Today in math we worked on some problem solving vocabulary and we worked on a few problems. We also listened to the story "The Math Curse" and the students are to write their own addition to the story. This is due on Friday.

Science/Health: We discussed setting goals and we each made up four goals. Mr. H's class also has a paragraph on "Why is it important to have your needs before your wants?"

Social Studies: We discussed the terms that we will be using in social studies this year from page 18 and 19 in our books.

In Mrs. D's class we read chapter 7 in The City of Ember we are really enjoying this book. The students had some comprehension questions to answer and they also had to try and decipher a message from the book. We also wrote in our journals and we began our first prewriting activity for our first complete essay. Ask your child what they are writing about for this essay. Spelling workbook pages are due tomorrow and the final test will be on Friday.

In Mr. H's room we have spelling workbook pages 8-10 are due tomorrow. We read pages 62-75 in The Wish Giver. We also worked on a paragraph correction sheet.

In Mr. P's room we finished Michelle Kwan: Heart of a Champion. We also worked on a "Michelle Kwan" card and wrote a paragraph on WS 65. We also worked on singular possessive nouns today. We took our spelling pretest and worked on pages 12 and 13.
