Happy Wednesday!

Sorry about no blog yesterday, it was a little crazy with the early release.

Here is what we did yesterday and today:

Math: We discussed converting weight and we also discussed powers and exponents. Problem set 77 was assigned yesterday and due today and Problem set 78 was assigned today and is due on Thursday.

Science: We went over how plants reproduce. We also had a worksheet on lessons 1-2 & 3 due tomorrow.

Social Studies: We discussed life on the plantation as seen on page 242. We also drew our own plantation.

In Mrs. D's class we discussed pronouns and had an assignment yesterday and also today. Spelling workbook pages are due on Thursday. We did a writing activity dealing with snow. We also listened to Esperanza a new story.

In Mr. H's class we took a spelling pretest and the workbook pages are due on Thursday pages 122-125. We did some DEAR time today. We worked on pronouns on pages 127-128. We also worked on their writing folders.

In Mr. P's class we did spelling pictures and sentences for unit 20 and took a pretest. We worked a little bit with conjunctions. We also began writing a story with a fictional character with a problem and solution. We also had some DEAR time.

Happy Snowy Monday!

We had a two hour delay this morning so here what we ended up accomplishing!

Math: Today we began multiplying fractions. Problem set 76 was assigned and is due on Tuesday.

Science: Today we reviewed our vocab test and checked our review test from Friday.

Social Studies: The students wrote down the requirements for their projects. We also continued with our review of chapter number five. They will have a test tomorrow.

In Mrs. D's class we took a spelling pretest over unit 20 and we went to the computer lab.

In Mr. H's class we worked on pronouns on page 225. We also looked at our new spelling list unit 20.

In Mr. P's class we wrote our spelling words five times each and we went over 122-127 in our workbooks and they are due on Friday. We also went to the library.

Happy Friday!

Here is what we did today:

Math: Today we took a test over skills previously taught.

Science: Toady we took a vocabulary test and we discussed roots and stems. A worksheet was given to review the first two lessons.

Social Studies: Today we discussed the importance of cotton and directly related this to slavery. The students should be looking for information on their states projects.

*We had our group pictures taken today and it was a little crazy!

In Mrs. D's class we took our spelling test and we worked on our tic tac toe for So Far From Home. We worked on a writing activity and did a review activity on Nouns.

In Mr. P's class we graded our spelling books and had a spelling test. We had a reading test and had a main idea activity. We also took an appositive test and we wrote in our journals.

In Mr. H's class we discussed the historical importance of Early Sunday Morning. We took our spelling unit 19 test. We completed page 222 in English a review over the unit we have been studying.

Happy Thursday!

Here is what we did today:

Math: Today we continued working with changing improper fractions to mixed numbers. Problem set 75 was assigned and is due on Friday. We will have a test on Friday!

Science: Today we discussed photosynthesis and watched a short video clip. We will take a vocab test on Friday.

Social Studies: Today we discussed Triangular Trade. We looked in the old textbook page 214.

In Mrs. D's class we went to the library today. We worked on nouns for the last day and we completed a writing activity in class. We also discussed So Far From Home and worked on our projects that are due next Friday.

In Mr. P's class we listened to the story My Side of the Mountain on tape and we did a comprehension check. We finished our spelling pictures and workbooks due tomorrow. We will also have a spelling test tomorrow. We also went to the library and we did some review work on appositives. Students need to create their own ten sentences for tomorrow and we did a writing activity.

In Mr. H's class we finished the book Early Sunday Morning and discussed the book together. We turned in our workbook pages for spelling. We continued page 221 in English. We did a writing activity on the board. Spelling test tomorrow and we also went to the library.

Happy Wednesday!

Here is what we did today:

Math: Today we discussed changing improper fractions to mixed numbers. BOB 75 was assigned and is due on Thursday.

Science: Today we reviewed our tests from Friday and our vocab from Monday. Photosynthesis was introduced as well.

Social Studies: Today we discussed our states and we are ready to begin working on our short projects.

In Mrs. D's class we finished the book So Far From Home and we discussed our final projects due next Friday. We worked on uses of nouns and we finished reviewing our Benchmark 2 tests. We are working on remediation for those who did not master certain skills. Spelling books are due on Friday.

In Mr. P's class we completed an appositive activity in language. We finished reading My Side of the Mountain and discussed. We took spelling pretest number 2 and we completed spelling pictures. We also complete a writing activity.

In Mr. H's class we continued reading in Early Sunday Morning pages 90-105. Page 220-221 in the old English book dealing with pronouns. Spelling workbooks are due tomorrow. We went to the computer lab as well.

Happy Tuesday!

Here is what we did today:

Math: Today we discussed converting units of length. Problem set 74 was assigned and is due on Wednesday.

Science: Today we watched a Bill Nye video on plants. (Mr. P was gone today visiting the Textbook Caravan in South Bend)

Social Studies: Today we discussed our states projects. Each class decided what they will be doing and the students each picked their state to research.

In Mrs. D's class today we finished up our review of nouns. We took our spelling pretest and the book will be due on Friday this week. We continued to read in So Far From Home and we did another winter writing activity.

In Mr. H's class we read pages 76-85 in Early Sunday Morning. We took our spelling unit 19 pretest and the book will be due on Thursday pages 116-119. We completed the unit review on page 220 on pronouns.

In Mr. P's class we worked on apositives and our spelling book is due on Friday. We will have a pretest tomorrow. We also continued to read in our new book. (Mr. P was gone today so we hope this is correct!)

Hsppy Monday!

Here is what we did today:

Math: Today we worked on lesson 73 dealing with adding and subtracting decimals. Problem set 73 was assigned and is due on Tuesday.

Science: We completed a KWL chart on our chapter on plants and we did the vocabulary on page 91. We will have a vocab test on Friday.

Social Studies: Today we discussed geography and football. We introduced our states project.

In Mrs. D's room: Mrs. D was home with a sick child so she hopes this is what happened in her room today! We should have read more of our story So Far From Home ending aroudn page 112. We took a spelling pretest over unit 19. We worked on singular and plural nouns and had a worksheet to complete. We also went to the library and computer lab

In Mr. H's class we read in EArly Sunday Morning pages 60-70. We introduced the words for lesson 19 in spelling and wrote our words. We worked on a writing prompt.

In Mr. P's class we introduced and worked on the vocab for the story My Side of the MOuntain. We introduced the spelling words and pages 116-121 due on Friday. We also wrote our words five times each and took a pretest. We began working on apositives. We also did a writing activiy dealing with the read aloud Hatchet.

Happy Friday!

Here is what we did today:

Math: We began discussing adding and subtracting decimals. We worked on a worksheet dealing with this topic and if they did not complete this it is due on Monday.

Science: We took a test over chapter 3 in Science dealing with the Body Systems.

Social Studies: We did BrainPop activities. They are really enjoying this activity!

In Mrs. D's class we took our review spelling test. We read from So Far From home up through page 95. We worked on nouns again in English and we worked on a writing activity in class as well.

In Mr. H's class we took our review spelling test. We read from Early Sunday Morning up to page 58. We discussed opinions and an activity page 201 to complete. We completed a writing sample.

In Mr. P's class we took our review spelling test and turned in our spelling book. We took a preposition test and we also took a test over our reading story. We also completed a writing activity.

Happy Thursday!

Here is what we did today:

Math: Today we discussed area and the difference between area and perimeter. Problem set 72 was assigned and due on Friday.

Science: Today we went over the review sheets and made sure that we had the right answers. We played a review game and watched some short clips. We will have a test on Friday!

Social Studies: Today we used our newly installed video projector and we watched some short clips on Martin Luther King and following the discussion we had a short quiz.

In Mrs. D's class we went to the library. We reviewed nouns and recognizing them since we had a little trouble with prepositions. We had a worksheet dealing with nouns. We turned in our spelling books and will have a test tomorrow. We also worked on a writing activity in class.

In Mr. H's class we read Early Sunday Morning through page 54. We turned in our spelling books and will have a review test tomorrow. We had a discussion on writing persuasive papers. We did some persuasive writing. We also went to the library.

In Mr. P's class we worked on prepositions and did some activities in preparation for our test tomorrow. We also discussed our reading story one last time for the test tomorrow. Spelling pictures and book are due tomorrow as well as the final test. We also went to the library. We also wrote in our journal today as well!

Happy Wednesday!

Here is what we did today!

We had early release day today. We will be working on our school improvement plan this afternoon while the kids are playing in the snow!

Today we did not trade classes and each class worked on reading and English activities.

Reminders: Spelling books due for Mrs. D and Mr. H tomorrow and on Friday for Mr. P.
Science test on Friday as well as review spelling tests!

Happy Tuesday!

Here is what we did today:

Math: Today we worked on Fractions, Percents and Decimals. Problem set 71 was assigned and is due on Wednesday!

Science: Today we discussed the urinary system and they were given the review sheet for the test on Friday. The review sheet is due on Thursday.

Social Studies: Today we read pages 194-204 dealing with the New England economy.

In Mrs. D's class we read pages 21-37 in So Far From Home. We worked on prepositions and had a worksheet. We worked on spelling pages 111-113 due on Thursday. We also had a visit from Mrs. K dealing with diligence.

In Mr. H's class we read in Early Sunday Morning pages 16-30. This is a great story. We took our pretest in spelling. Pages 110-113 were assigned and are due on Thursday. In English we discussed contractions, page 186-187 in the old book. Homework is parts A, B and C. We also went to the library.

In Mr. P's class we did a main idea activity. We worked on published our vacation papers in the computer lab. We worked with object of the preposition and had an activity to complete. Spelling workbook pages 111-113 due on Friday along with 16 spelling pictures due on Friday.

Happy Monday!

Here is what we did today:

Math: Today we worked on Investigation 7 dealing with sequences and patterns. We had a review assignment dealing with triple digit multiplication.

Science: We discussed the digestive system. We will have a test over this chapter on Friday.

Social Studies: Today we discussed Martin Luther King Day. We are going to begin looking at the different states soon.

In Mrs. D's class we went to the computer lab and worked on math using Brain Pop. We began reading So Far From Home a Dear America book. We read the first section pages 3-17 today. We began unit 18 in spelling and we also started to work on prepositions! We also went to the library!

In Mr. H's class we began Early Sunday Morning a Dear America book. We began lesson 18 in spelling by copying words three times each. In English we worked on using pronouns in the old book. Homework is page 185 A, B and C.

In Mr. P's class we took our first spelling pretest and wrote our words three times each! We discussed prepositions and had a worksheet reviewing these. We listened to the Golden Lion Tamaran on tape and worked on main ideas in a comprehension test. We also went to the library.

Happy Friday!

Here is what we did today:

Math: Today we took a test over what we have done so far.

Science: Today we took a vocabulary test and we discussed the Respiratory System.

Social Studies: Today we finished our puritan discussions.

*Today we all went to the library to pick out a book for the RIF program.

In Mrs. D's class we took our spelling test and read from the Chicken Soup for the Soul for the last day.

In Mr. H's class we took our spelling test and we turned in our workbooks. We answered the questions at the end of our paperback books that we have been working on . We discussed Possessive Pronouns pages 182-183 in the old English books.

In Mr. P's class we took our spelling test and turned in our workbooks. We had a reading vocabulary test and we went over the preposition worksheet and learned the preposition jingle. We wrote our closing paragraph for our holiday writing paper. We also read the second part to the Lion Tamaran story.

Happy Thursday!

Here is what we did today:

Math: Today we discussed writing equivalent decimals. Problem set 70 was assigned and is due on Friday. We will have a test on Friday.

Science: Today we discussed the different parts of the heart. We will have a vocabulary test tomorrow.

Social Studies: Today we read chapter 5 lesson 2 and discussing puritans.

In Mrs. D's class we went to the library. We continued our reading and sharing in Chicken Soup for the Kids soul. Spelling workbook pages and test are tomorrow. We also worked on our resolutions.

In Mr. P's class we had a prepositions discussion and worksheet due tomorrow. Eight spelling pictures were assigned and are due tomorrow. We read part one in the Lion Tamaran story. We will have a reading vocab test tomorrow and a spelling test tomorrow. Spelling workbook pages are also due tomorrow. We also went to the library.

In Mr. H's class we continued in the paperback books today. We graded our workbook pages in spelling. We discussed object pronouns and had an assignment on page 181 A,B, and C. We also went to the library and we will have a spelling test tomorrow.

Happy Wednesday!

Here is what we did today:

Math: Today we discussed parts of a second and comparing and ordering decimals. Problem set 69 was assigned and is due on Thursday. We will have a test on Friday.

science: Today we discussed the different parts of blood, blood vessels and the circulatory system. Vocabulary test on Friday

Social Studies: Today we read lesson 1 of chapter 5 and discussed pages 188-193. (Mr. H was home sick today)

*We had a convocation today dealing with the 6 plus 1 writing traits.

In Mrs. D's class we read from The Chicken Soup for the Kids Soul and we also discussed what our favorites. We completed our ADD/DOL and we also worked on New Year's resolutions.

In Mr. P's class we completed the vocabulary for a the Golden Lion Tamarin Comes Home. Vocab test on Friday. We wrote our closing sentences and our introduction paragraph for our holiday essay. We also took our spelling test and have ten spelling sentences due tomorrow.

In Mr. H's class we worked on workbook pages in spelling due on Thursday. We worked on subject pronouns on pages 179- parts A, B and C. We also worked on Reading Counts for reading.

Happy Tuesday!

Here is what we did today:

Math: Wee discussed changing fractions to decimals. We also looked again at decimal place value. Problem set 68 was assigned and is due on Wednesday.

Science: Today we introduced the different body systems. Vocabulary on page 59 was assigned and is due tomorrow. We also read lesson 1. Vocabulary test will be on Friday.

Social Studies: Today we discussed current events including the Presidential funeral and the weather patterns in Denver.

In Mrs. D’s class we discussed traditions and shared some of our traditions. We will be doing a writing activity with this soon. We also took a spelling pretest over unit 17 and we began reading a Fractured Fairy Tale. We also wrote about our winter break!

In Mr. P’s class we wrote our topic sentences and details for our favorite winter break activity. We wrote our spelling words five times each and began to work on our workbook pages due on Friday. Pretest will be tomorrow. We went to the computer lab and we also introduced prepositions.

In Mr. H’s class we read in the paper back books from our reading series. We began lesson 17 page 104 we copied our words three times each. We also took our spelling pretest. We discussed pronouns on page 176-177 in the old English textbook. We also did the writing activity from our spelling book about writing a fable.
