Happy Halloween!
Here is what we did today:
Math: Today we discussed expanded notation and two step problems. Problem set 49 was assigned and is due on Thursday.
Science: We discussed renewable and nonrenewable resources. We also went over our chapter 9 test and we reviewed our vocabulary for chapter 10.
Social Studies: We continued our discussion on explorers concentrating on Columbus. After reading in our textbook we watched a short video on Columbus and his life.
In Mrs. D's class we worked on a Halloween word find and activity. We also worked on our writing paper. We had extra remediation work if needed on place value.
In Mr. H's class we worked on our spelling book unit 10 pages 62-65. We read chapter 3 in The City of Ember and we went to the library.
In Mr. P's class we went over sequencing of a story and we completed an activity in class, if not complete then it is homework. We reviewed our pronoun sheet. Spelling workbook unit 10 is due on Friday. We worked on typing our five paragraph papers in the computer lab and then we went to the library.

Science: We previewed and discussed conserving natural resources. We did the vocab on page 299 due tomorrow.
Social Studies: We discussd the expectations for our Explorer's report that will be due November 22. Ask your child to see what they wrote down from the notes given in class.
** We all had our fire prevention talk and a trip to the fire safety house. Ask your child about your fire escape plan. We also each had our eyes checked today so we have had a busy day!
In Mrs. D's class we had our spelling pretest and we read chapters 26-27 in People of Sparks.
In Mr. H's class we wrote our words three times each and we began chapter 3 in City of Ember.
In Mr. P's class we did an event map on Earthquake Terror. If it was not finished it is homework. We had a spelling pretest and 5 times each was assigned. We also reviewed and wrote thank you letters to the Fire Department.

Social Studies: We continued to discuss more explorers and fill out our chart. We had a great discussion on Columbus.
In Mrs. D's class we worked more on fixing run on sentences. We took a spelling test. We went over our benchmark tests as well. We also read chapters 24-25 in People of Sparks. We also had a Halloween fun activity.
In Mr. H's class we finished chapter 2 from The City of Ember. We took a spelling test and we went over our benchmark tests as well.

Happy Wednesday!
Here is what we did today:
Math: Today we discussed dividing with no remainder's again, and we also discussed adding and subtracting mixed numbers, whole numbers and fractions. Problem set 43 was assigned and is due on Thursday.
Science: We read lesson 6 on identifying rocks and discussed the three types of rocks. We had lesson 5 and 6 review sheet as homework.
Social Studies: We started making a chart to classify the early explorers. We will be soon starting our Explorers report so the students should be thinking about which explorer they might want to find out more information on.
In Mrs. D's class we worked on choppy sentences and connecting them correctly. We also worked on spelling and then we went to the convocation.
In Mr. H's class we worked on spelling workbook pages 56-59. We also read a short bit out of the City of Ember.
In Mr. P's class we took a spelling pretest and we had spelling pictures and pages 60 - 61 were assigned and is due on Friday.
Today we had a convocation called The Ned Show! Ask your kids about it!

Math: Today we discussed short division and divisibility rules for 3, 6, and 9. Problem set 42 was assigned and is due on Wednesday.
Science: We read and discussed how minerals are identified. We also identified nine different minerals. Test on Friday.
Social Studies: We discussed from the old textbook the Vikings and Marco Polo and for some classes we discussed the 70's.
In Mrs. D's class we read chapters 21-22 and answered questions about these chapters. We also worked on our writing rough drafts of our choice papers. We also looked at fixing choppy sentences. Spelling workbook pages were assigned and are due on Thursday.
In Mr. H's class we began The City of Ember chapter one. We had our spelling pretest and we had a writing assignment on staying off of drugs in connection with Red Ribbon Week.
In Mr. P's class we did spelling pages 56-57-58 due on Friday. We also chose ten words to write ten spelling sentences. We went to the computer lab to begin typing our five paragraph papers. We also took our Running Out of Time test. We also look at the vocab for the Earthquake Terror story. We also began to look at pronouns.

Science: Due to the long weekend we did a review of lessons 3 and 4 in class. This was graded in class and we will have a test on Thursday or Friday.
Social Studies: We are beginning unit 2 chapter 3 dealing with Explorations. Today we discussed Marco Polo. This was pages 112-117 in our textbook.
In Mrs. D's class we took our spelling pretest over unit 9. We read chapters 19-20 in People of Sparks. We also went to the computer lab and library as well.

Happy Tuesday!
Here is what we did today:
Math: Today we worked on figuring out combinations. We also worked on a fun sheet dealing with multiplication and some problem solving! If this was not finished it is due on Wednesday.
Science: We took a quiz over the vocab and the differences in weathering and then we read and discussed the lesson on erosion. We will take a test next Thursday.
Social Studies: We continued to discuss the Aztecs, Incas and Mayans. No Homework!
In Mrs. D's class we worked on combining sentences. We also read chapters 17-18 in People of Sparks and answered questions. We also worked on coming up with strong verbs and nouns to use in our writing.
In Mr. H's class we read LaBamba from our textbook. We did a paragraph correction sheet. We also did a spelling activity.
In Mr. P's class we read chapters 22-23 in Running Out of Time. We will have our AR test on this book on Tuesday. We wrote in our journals as well. We continued working on our five paragraph papers. Mrs. Kaufman also came in and talked to us about stress.

Science: We read and discussed chemical and mechanical weathering. Lesson 3 chapter 9 in our science books. Tomorrow we will have a vocab quiz over words on pages 259.
Social Studies: We began looking at chapter 3: The Time of Exploration.
In Mrs. D's class we read chapter 15-16 in People of Sparks and answered questions. We had a worksheet on troubled sentences. We have no spelling this week. We went to the computer lab as well.
In Mr. H's class we read from our textbooks the autobiography of Alex Rodriguez. No spelling test this week but we did draw pictures for next weeks words. We also had a paragraph correction and had a journal topic to write about this year.
In Mr. P's class we read and discussed chapters 21-22 in Running Out of Time. We had a paragraph correction sheet. We wrote supporting sentences for our topic sentences for our five paragraph papers. We also went to the library.

Science: Today we took a quiz over the layers of the Earth. We then read and discussed about volcanoes and earthquakes. We also had a lesson 1 and 2 review sheet for homework. Also remember that weather sheets are due on Monday.
Social Studies: Today we took a chapter two test. This was an open book test so hopefully that will help with the grades!
In Mrs. D's class we worked on more irregular verbs. We read chapter 15 in The People of Sparks. We also took our spelling test and we had our pictures taken.

Math: We divided and wrote our remainders as mixed numbers. NO MORE REMAINDERS! Problem set 40 was assigned and is due on Friday. Test on Friday.
Science: Today we read and discussed about the Earth's surface. There will be a quiz over the three layers of the Earth tomorrow! Do not forget the weather sheets.
Social Studies: Today we reviewed for our test and are to read lesson 6 pages 86-90 and then answer questions 1-10 on page 93. We will have a test over chapter 2 tomorrow.
**We all gave the math benchmark test today!
In Mrs. D's class we read chapter 14 in the People of Sparks and answered questions. We worked on Irregular verbs and we went to the library.
In Mr. H's class we went to the library. We had a paragraph correction sheet and we finished our comparison papers. Spelling book was due today and our final test will be tomorrow.

Science: Today we took a test over chapter 8 Weather Patterns. Do not forget weather sheets are due on Monday!
Social Studies: We created our own totem pole in class using samples from textbooks present and past.
In Mrs. D's class we read chapters 11 and 12 in People of Sparks and answered questions. We also started working on a flag project with the book. The students will create a flag and write a paragraph describing their choice. We also worked on a new classroom plan and we have spelling workbook due on Thursday.
In Mr. H's class we finally finished the Mixed Up Files and began to watch the video where we will write a comparison paper between the two. We discussed verbs and we had an activity to be completed by tomorrow. Spelling book pages 50-54 due on Thursday.
In Mr. P's class we read and discussed chapter 15 in Running out of Time. There will be a quiz tomorrow over chapters 10-15. We also did a paragraph correcting sheet top we did together and the bottom is homework. We also went to the computer lab!

In Mr. P's class we read and discussed chapter 15 in Running out of Time. There will be a quiz tomorrow over chapters 10-15. We also did a paragraph correcting sheet top we did together and the bottom is homework. We also went to the computer lab!

Happy Monday!
Here is what we did today:
Math: Today we discussed triangles and how to classify them. Problem set 36 was assigned and is due on Tuesday.
Science: Today we reviewed for our test that will be tomorrow. We did the chapter review in class. We also had a weather chart to do for the week.
Social Studies: Today we discussed chapter 2 lesson 3 dealing with the Northwest and Artic civilizations, pages 76-79.
In Mrs. D's class we read chapters 9 and 10 in The People of Sparks and answered some questions. We took a spelling pretest and we went to the computer lab.
In Mr. H's class we finished the Mixed Up Files in class today. We wrote our lesson 8 spelling words three times each. We also had a paragraph correcting sheet.
In Mr. P's class we read chapters 13 and 14 in Running Out of Time. We worked on a paragraph correction sheet. We also worked on a brainstorming activity for our writing that we will work on this week. Spelling pretest was taken and book is due on Friday.

Math: Today we took a test in class over items that we have already covered this year.
Science: We watched a video on hurricanes and tornados. We will have a test on Tuesday.
Social Studies: Today we worked on vocabulary development with our social studies vocabulary. Ask your child to see their pictures.
In Mrs. D's class we read some from Small Steps. We took a spelling test and we worked on subject verb agreement with forms of the verb be. We had a worksheet to complete on this as well.
In Mr. H's class we took a test in spelling. We read chapter 9 in the Mixed Up Files and we had a paragraph correction.
In Mr. P's class we read chapter 12 in Running Out of Time. We took our spelling test and we worked on problem solving strategies.

Happy Thursday!
Here is what we did today:
Math: Today we worked on problems dealing with comparing and with elapsed time. The students had problem set 35 to do for tomorrow and we will have a test on Friday!
Science: We read and discussed lesson 5 on climate. Lesson 4 and 5 review sheet was given for homework due tomorrow. Test on Tuesday.
Social Studies: We looked at lesson 3 page 70-73 and compared that with the readings in the old textbook dealing with early western cultures.
In Mrs. D's class we went to the library today and listened to some more of Small Steps. We also have our spelling books due tomorrow and we will have a spelling test tomorrow!
In Mr. H's class we read from the Mixed Up Files chapter 8. We had a paragraph correction sheet and spelling book was due today. We will have a spelling test tomorrow. We also had a writing sample to do in class.

Happy Wednesday!

Math: Today we continued to work on division with zeros in the quotient. BOB 34 on page 642 was assigned and is due on Thursday. We will have a test on Friday.
Science: Today we talked about predicting the weather and how forecasters predict the weather. This was lesson 4 in chapter 8 in our science books. Students need to study their notes for our test on Tuesday.
Social Studies: We did a writing activity dealing with lessons 1 and 2 chapter 2. We also were to read pages 71-73 which is lesson 3 to discuss tomorrow.
In Mrs. D's class we worked on analogies with our vocabulary words from the People of Sparks. We also worked on plural subject verb agreement. We had a spelling activity and our books are due on Friday of this week due to our time crunch! Spelling test will be on Friday.
In Mr. H's class we read chapter 7 in the Mixed Up Files. We also continued subject verb agreement and we had a short writing activity. Spelling books unit 7 are due tomorrow. Test on Friday!

Science: We read and discussed lesson three on severe weather. Homework was collected from lesson 1.
Social Studies: We looked at chapter 2 lessons 1 and 2 vocabulary today.
In Mrs. D's class we worked on singular subject verb agreement. We caught up from Friday's reading in The People of Sparks. We took our spelling pretest.
In Mr. H's class we reviewed our spelling words for lesson 7, our pretest will be tomorrow. We read chapter 6 in the Mixed Up Files. We also worked on letter writing!
In Mr. P's class we worked on spelling pages in our books for unit 7 and we had our pretest. We read chapters 10 and 11 in Running Out of Time in class. Be ready for a chapters 6-10 quiz coming soon.
*A note to parents: When we list what we did in our class these are items which were assigned during the day. Sometimes kids finish them during the sometimes they do not and then it becomes homework. Ask your child if they completed their school work. All students learn and work at different levels and some complete items in school while others do not. We appreciate your help in this matter.
*We had our first day of our week long explorations. This was an enjoyable time for the students who turned in their forms.
